Silver Blades Gold Medalists
Passing the U.S. Figure Skating Gold Medal Test is a prestigious accomplishment that earns you the official title of a U.S. Figure Skating Gold Medalist. It’s not just another test—this is the final and highest-level test in your discipline’s pathway—whether that's singles, pairs, or ice dance.
What This Test Represents
-
Peak proficiency: You’ve demonstrated excellence in all required components of that discipline.
-
Formal recognition: Achieving Gold signals mastery and places you among an elite group of skaters recognized at the national level .
-
Competitive eligibility: Once you pass, you may compete in national qualifying events at that level, unlocking doors to higher-profile competitions
The Testing Process
-
Testing takes place during scheduled test sessions hosted by USFS-affiliated clubs or can be fulfilled via competition protocols, depending on level and event
-
The test panel typically includes three qualified judges who evaluate your technical execution, consistency, quality of edges, flow, power, and performance
Why It Matters
Passing the Gold Test:
-
Validates your technical and artistic skill at the highest standard USFS sets.
-
Reflects commitment, discipline, and continuous growth—you’ve climbed each test level to reach the pinnacle.
-
Enhances your eligibility for national competitions and shows you’re ready to skate among the nation’s best.
Beyond the Bronze and Silver
Each level of testing—Bronze, Silver, and then Gold—is progressively designed to build and assess key skills. You must pass in sequence, and Gold is the culmination of that journey. Upon passing, you're officially listed as a U.S. Figure Skating Gold Medalist, a recognition you can earn multiple times (for example, in different disciplines)
